Editorial policy
The journal “Actual Problems of Mind” is a professional academic publication in philosophy and publishes original research articles in all areas of philosophical inquiry. The editorial policy of the journal is based on the principles of academic integrity, openness, scholarly responsibility, and international integration.
1. Advancement of High-Quality Ukrainian Scholarship and International Academic Dialogue
The journal is committed to fostering high-quality philosophical research in Ukraine and integrating it into the international intellectual community.
- The journal publishes original research by Ukrainian and international authors.
- The Editorial Office promotes dialogue between diverse philosophical traditions and research approaches.
- The Editorial Board supports the publication of Ukrainian translations of works by foreign authors representing contemporary or classical philosophical research, provided that copyright requirements are observed and permission from rights holders is obtained.
- The journal is published in print and distributed to central libraries of Ukraine; full-text articles are also made available in open access on the official journal website.
2. Principles of Open Science and Research Transparency
The journal supports the principles of open science and encourages transparency in research procedures and reproducibility of results.
- The journal provides diamond open access (free of charge for both authors and readers) to all articles and issues.
- The Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform is used to ensure transparent communication between authors, editors, and reviewers.
- The journal supports adherence to the FAIR principles for research data.
- The Editorial Office encourages appropriate disclosure of research materials, the use of AI tools, and other practices that may affect the content of publications (in accordance with the journal’s policies).
3. Academic Integrity and Responsible Authorship
The journal adheres to publication ethics in accordance with the COPE Core Practices and expects authors to comply with the highest standards of academic integrity.
- The Editorial Office requires originality of research and proper citation of sources.
- Plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, and manipulation of data or materials are strictly prohibited.
- Authors must transparently disclose any potential conflicts of interest.
- Authorship is granted only to individuals who have made a substantial intellectual contribution to the research and agree to take responsibility for its content.
4. Independence and Objectivity of Editorial Decisions
Editorial decisions are made solely on the basis of the scholarly quality of the manuscript, argumentative rigor, methodological soundness, and its relevance to the journal’s scope.
- The journal applies a double-blind peer review procedure.
- Editorial decisions are independent of the authors’ institutional affiliations, nationality or citizenship, political or religious beliefs, as well as personal or professional relationships.
- The Editorial Office guarantees non-discrimination and ensures equal opportunities for all authors.
5. Alignment with International Standards
The editorial policy of the journal aligns with international standards and recommendations, including:
- the principles of COPE on publication ethics;
- recommendations on editorial independence and conflict-of-interest management supported by international editorial communities (including ALLEA);
- the principles of the DORA Declaration on research assessment; accordingly, the journal evaluates manuscripts solely on their scholarly merit and does not use journal-based metrics as a determining criterion of academic quality.
6. Responsibility, Good Faith, and Proper Editorial Practice
The Editorial Office operates on the presumption of good faith on the part of authors, reviewers, and members of the Editorial Board. At the same time, all participants in the editorial process are expected to act responsibly and adhere to ethical standards.
- The confidentiality of the peer review process is guaranteed.
- In cases of reasonable suspicion of ethical misconduct, the Editorial Office initiates an investigation in accordance with journal procedures and COPE recommendations.
- The journal ensures transparent mechanisms for handling complaints, issuing corrections, publishing expressions of concern, or retractions in order to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record.
7. Academic Pluralism
The journal recognizes the value of diverse philosophical approaches and methodologies. Submissions are evaluated based on their argumentative strength, scholarly rigor, and intellectual integrity, rather than adherence to any particular school or tradition.
