Planning and Organization Peculiarities of Professional Training of Romance Philology Bachelors at the Universities of France and Belgium

Abstract

The present article is dedicated to the peculiarities of professional training of Romance philology bachelors according to the common and different features of the contents and means of its organization in the educational system in France and Belgium. To carry out the comparative analysis there have been used the plausible data that show the characteristic features of Romance philology bachelors’ professional and culturological training at the Paris-Sorbonne University, Bordeaux Montaigne University (University of Bordeaux 3), and the Free University of Brussels. There have been compared the contents of educational and professional training programs of Romance philology bachelors, particularly the course «The French language and literature», and the list of their professional and culturological subjects.It is established that the choice of the subjects necessary for Romance philology bachelors’ professional training at the universities is made according to the following requirements: a list of professional subjects is to provide the contents of all the specialized competences; professional training may be carried out in different directions: either profound study of two-three (or more) specified fields in applied linguistics, or on the basis of the French language or several Romance languages studying; culturological training is to take into account the students' needs and interests. It is important to point out the fact that Romance philology bachelors are offered the curriculum whose main goal is to guide them through a linguistic application package and form a professional competence based on the unity of its constituents by studying the following bodies of subjects: General subjects that create the initial notion about their future profession and linguist’s functions; Specialized subjects that make foundation for professional competences (linguistic, social and cultural, strategic, translational, culturological);The Humanities that create a profound idea about a human and his social and cultural activities (the subjects due to a student’s choice) and form general cultural and culturological competences.Hence, professional training of Romance philology bachelors at the mentioned French and Belgian universities is characterized by a combination of centuries-old academic traditions and animated educational and professional programs that are quick to adjust to the requirements of modern intercultural communication and cultural services by means of following the principles of straightforwardness, contextual education, art and cultural accordance.The prospective problems concern Romance philology bachelors’ formation of professional and culturological competences.
