The article is devoted to the issues of the author’s strategy peculiarities in the text of a modern novel, in particular, the noticed way “a thinking trap”. The examples of the use of this strategy are given in different variants in various novels: from direct pointing to the trap to logical conclusions with the help of the labyrinth, the contradictions in the end, etc. It is shown that thanks to the modern understanding of the text as hyperspace, full of ambiguity and puzzles, gaps, paralipsis, understatement, and especially the way “a thinking trap” in literature force the process of sensemaking in reader’s perception.
