The problem of national consciousness formation in the creative heritage of prominent Ukrainian cultural figures of the late XIXth - early ХХth century

Abstract

The paper deals with the problem of forming national self-consciousness in artistic heritage and creative activity of outstanding Ukrainian representatives of culture of the end of the 18^th – the beginning of the 20^th century. It proves that progressive Ukrainian representatives of culture treated national education and national upbringing as the major element of young people ethnic identity forming.
