The paper examines the arguments put forward by D. Chalmers against physicalism by considering the critical objections against these arguments and the corresponding methodology in the investigation of consciousness. A supervenience approach on which the Chalmers’ conception is based is considered to have some advantages although not without serious shortcomings for solving problems in the philosophy of mind.
