The problem of developing critical thinking by students of technical higher education institution is researched in this article, with the help of scientific and technical literature. The essence of the concept of «critical thinking» is determined on the basis of formation, composition and generalization of scientific information and is proved the necessity of its formation with students of technical higher education institution as part of their future professional competence.
