Abstract

This is the first Ukrainian translation of the article “The Burden of History” (1966) by Hayden White. This paper is extremely important in perspective of the evolution of White's philosophical ideas within the theory of history, which resulted in his famous “Metahistory: The Historical Imagination in Nineteenth-century Europe” (1973). (Translated from English into Ukrainian by Olena Mishalova).
