Aims and Scope

"Actual Problems of Mind" publishes articles devoted to the study of current issues in philosophy. The journal aims to represent a broad spectrum of contemporary philosophical thought in Ukraine and beyond, and publishes translations of classical and contemporary authors. The journal is oriented toward integrating achievements of modern analytic philosophy into the problem field of Ukrainian philosophical discourse. The Editorial Board supports the publication of Ukrainian translations of works by foreign authors representing contemporary or classical philosophical research, provided that copyright requirements are respected and the authors’ consent is obtained.

History of the Journal

The journal was founded in 1995, when the materials of the All-Ukrainian Conference “Actual Problems of Mind,” held in October 1995 at the Department of Philosophy of Kryvyi Rih State Pedagogical Institute, were published. The initiator and organizer of the conference, as well as the founder of the journal, was Tavrida Ananiivna Khorolska, Head of the Department of Philosophy.

Registration and Indexing

In 2001, the journal received official registration as a periodical publication (Certificate KV No. 5135 dated May 21, 2001), re-registered in 2012 and 2016 (Certificate KV No. 18957 dated April 4, 2012; Certificate KV No. 22384-12284PR dated October 31, 2016). “Actual Problems of Mind” is a printed periodical included in the List of Professional Scientific Publications of Ukraine (Category B), specialty 033 – Philosophy (Appendix 3 to Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine No. 1017 dated September 27, 2021). By Decision No. 1925 of the National Council of Ukraine on Television and Radio Broadcasting (Protocol No. 20 dated September 25, 2025), the journal was included in the Register of Media Entities (R40-06515).

"Actual Problems of Mind" is indexed in Crossref, ROAD, Google Scholar, OCLC WorldCat, BASE (as part of the collection "Scientific Journals and Collections of Kryvyi Rih State Pedagogical University"), Scilit, DOAJ.

Publication Frequency – Annual. Articles for the current issue are accepted until September 1 of the respective year. During September and October, submitted manuscripts undergo peer review, after which articles are selected and edited for publication. The journal is published in December each year.

Publication and Access Policy

Publication in the journal is free of charge for all authors. The journal practices immediate open access to its published content, supporting the principles of free dissemination of scientific information and global exchange of knowledge for the benefit of social and scientific progress.

The Editorial Office assigns a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) to each published article.

All issues of the journal are freely and permanently available on the journal website and in the V.I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine. Authors may deposit the final accepted version of their article (Author’s Accepted Manuscript – AAM) in an institutional or subject repository, where it may be made available in open access.

Peer Review

The Editorial Board ensures double-blind peer review of all submitted manuscripts via OJS. The review process is conducted in accordance with the APM Peer Review Policy.
