The problem of a secular interpretation of the old East Slavic liturgical texts

Abstract

The paper substantiates a possibility of an hermeneutic approach to the old East Slavic liturgical texts what presupposes their translation into a secular language. The author indicates as the main problem the fact that such a secular translation of the liturgical texts is often distorted by atheistic interpretations. To avoid such misrepresentations one has to take into account the wide cultural context from the times when the texts were created.
