Abstract

Clairvaux in context of the west-european history of philosophy The article is devoted to philosophical understanding of the problem of free will in the doctrine of French medieval theologian and the founder of the medieval philosophical mysticism Saint Bernard of Clairvaux. The author explores different approaches to the problem in a historical and philosophical discourse, marking thus the ethical and mystical understanding by St. Bernard of an individual free choice as a remedy for rising to God.
