Author Guidelines

1. Thematic scope. Philological Studies devoted to topical problems of modern philology and covering research in the fields of linguistics, literary studies and translation studies. The thematic focus of the publication involves coverage of scientific investigations in which the Ukrainian language, literature and culture become the central object of research or a key context for interlingual, interliterary and intercultural studies.

2. Publications schedule. One volume is published annually. Articles for the current issue are accepted until August 17 of the respective year. During September and October, submitted manuscripts undergo peer review, after which articles are selected and edited for publication. The journal is published in December each year.

3. Dissemination. The journal "Philological studies" is completely free of charge for both authors and readers. No submission fees or Article Processing Charges (APC) are applied to submitted manuscripts. This includes peer review, editing, publication, maintenance, archiving, and immediate open access to full-text articles. The hard copies of each issue are sent to all main libraries in Ukraine. The complete issues of the journal are also available on-line on the website of the publication.

4. Submission. Papers must be submitted in the form of a Microsoft Word compatible file. Please use 1,5 spacing and 14-point font Times New Roman. References should be complete and follow one of the accepted citation standards. References in a form of the footnotes are also allowed. The publication languages are Ukrainian or English. Submissions in languages other than Ukrainian or English can also be accepted on an exceptional basis.

Submissions can be made electronically through the journal's website . The author's affiliation and address, as well as contact details should be attached to the paper.

5. Summary and keywords. The first page of the submission should contain (i) the author's name; (ii) the title of the article; and (iii) an abstract (1800 characters without spaces) and key words of the paper (5-10 words). 

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • Author has read and accepted Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
