The article deals with the coverage of the essence of competence approach to the formation of modern specialists’ professional competence. In this article the basic principles of competence approach are defined. Attention is also focused on the problems to be solved within the framework of competence approach in the process of studying different courses by modern specialists. The article provides causes of appearance and further development of competence approach as a basic approach to the formation of modern specialists’ professional competence.
