Referencing as a method of compressive processing of information

Abstract

The article researches an actual problem concerning methods of studying the Ukrainian language as a foreign one. Students’ ability to compress a text is a prerequisite for integrating educational and scientific literature required for a certain major. Referencing is one of a numerous activities in question. The author analyzes various kinds of referencing and provides a system of exercises which will contribute to enhancing skills of writing referential reports of different types.
