The article is devoted to the theoretical analysis of lying as a
psychological phenomenon. The ambiguity, ambivalence and at the same
time socio-psychological significance of this problem is analyzed. The
peculiarities and the basic age features of lying in childhood and puberty
as well as motives and reasons of this phenomenon in different age groups
(preschool age, primary school age, teenage age) have been considered. The
main identifiers and markers that can differentiate the elements of truth
and lying in the verbal expression among children and teenagers (features
of the speech, eye and body movements, its plasticity, etc.) were analyzed.
It is shown that the phenomenon of lying has its expression in the behavior
of personality in the form of a combination of verbal and nonverbal signs,
which can be noticed and determined in the process of communication.
