The article deals with the analysis of the ideas of the philosophy of heart by Hryhorij Skovoroda in the Pavlo Tychyna’s Poetry Collection «Instead of Sonnets and Octaves». The main attention is drawn to the image of heart, Christian and moral values in prosepoetry. The way to harmony is viewed by Tychyna in the resistance to evil, in universal human values, such as faith, hope and love, which are predominant in Skovoroda’s writings. The idea of the national liberation P.Tychyna connects with the ideas of Christian culture. On the foundation of the philosophical views of the great thinker the poet meditates upon the critical contradictions of ‘Self”, a human heart with the cruel realities of the historical epoch.
