Abstract

The article deals with the works for children and youth about Australia, Brazil and New Guinea, written by Ukrainian Diaspora authors. It is noted, that these works embody the imagery and national mentality of the Ukrainian writers, which introduced the young reader to exotic images. The ethno-cultural images of Australia, Brazil and New Guinea are presented in several types: landscapes of exotic sights; images that reveal certain dangers; the images of the aboriginals, whose customs are depicted in the works for children and youth. The comprehension of the other cultures was realized through the interpretation of certain problems related to the actual Ukrainian experience.
